Stone has been in the Wood family for generations. As a sixteen year old apprentice, Andrew's training started under the tutelage of his grandfather, Cyril Albert Wood. Cyril Wood, a master mason, started his own business in 1922 in Spilsby, Lincolnshire.
In turn, Cyril's father was stonemason to the Earl of Ancaster, with workshops in Caister, still in operation today under Andrew's uncle.
Few companies today can boast six generations of continuity. From Cyril, a gentleman of the old school, with strong 'old fashioned' values, to Andrew Wood today, still embracing these values but with the benefits of modern production facilities in Manningtree, Essex.
